As April is National Autism Awareness Month, we promote empowerment for those living with the Autism Spectrum Disorder, reminding them that they can overcome the challenges of their condition. Little do people know, there have been many individuals in the past who have lived with Autism Spectrum Disorder and have changed the way other people have seen the world.
We at PRP Learning Center of Baltimore, a provider of rehabilitation services in Dundalk, Maryland, enumerate a few of the acclaimed individuals who did not let their disability define them:
- Bobby Fischer
He was known to be the chess grandmaster and the World Chess Champion. It is said that he lived with Asperger’s Syndrome along with other disabilities. However, it did not stop him from doing what he loved and creating new ways on how to innovate the game. - Satoshi Tajiri
You may know this man for his creation, the worldwide phenomenon “Pokemon.” Although he has confirmed to be on the high functioning end of the autism spectrum, it did not stop him from putting his imagination out there, inspiring both children and adults alike. - Temple Grandin
She is an example of showing awareness of what people with autism personally experience as she publicly shares her insights with others. Other than that, she is also a professor of animal science in the Colorado State University and a consultant for the livestock industry on animal behavior.
These are only a few of the many people who did not let their condition get the best of them. Don’t let the challenges that come your way hinder you from doing greater things. However, when the challenges become way too heavy, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. Our rehabilitation services in Maryland are available to get you back in the right track.
